Caught My Partner Cheating in a Polyamorous Relationship

My partner blindsided me with polyamory, only to betray me multiple times shortly after.

It all started when my partner introduced polyamory into our relationship without warning. A day later, I caught them in bed with someone else, showing no remorse until I walked out.

In our mid-20s, after a year together, things seemed fine until the polyamory bomb dropped, leading to a series of cheating incidents that shattered our trust.

"I'm so sorry I hurt you, I love you, it won't happen again," my partner said after each betrayal.

Despite promises to change, they continued their cheating ways, using polyamory as an excuse for their behavior.

"Poly is so complicated, I'm sorry if you got hurt when I was figuring it out!" they justified their actions.

Fed up, I had to decide whether to stay and try to work things out or leave for good.

🏠 The Aftermath

I ultimately chose to end the relationship, leaving behind the toxicity of polyamory gone wrong.

I moved out, taking my belongings and finding a new place to start fresh.

The breakup had financial implications, but the emotional relief outweighed any material losses.

Leaving was the best decision for my mental health and well-being.

Despite the pain, there's a sense of freedom and closure now that the toxic relationship is behind me.

💭 Emotional Reflection

Looking back, I realize the importance of clear communication and mutual respect in any relationship.

I've learned that boundaries and honesty are non-negotiable, regardless of the relationship dynamics.

While some may find success in polyamory, for me, it highlighted the need for trust and fidelity above all else.

Community reactions to my story have been mixed, with many agreeing that trust is paramount in any relationship.

Betrayal like that is unforgivable.
Polyamory should never be an excuse for cheating.
Leaving was the right choice to protect your well-being.

The responses reflect a consensus on the importance of respect and honesty in relationships.

🌱 Final Thoughts

Choosing to walk away was a difficult decision, but necessary for my own growth and happiness.

In the end, leaving a toxic situation allowed me to prioritize my well-being and set boundaries.
